Court could rule Friday on whether to end CAW blockade

The Canadian Auto Workers union may find out as early as Friday, but possibly later, whether it is legally required to end a nine-day blockade of General Motor Corp.'s Canadian headquarters in Oshawa, Ont.

The case was heard before the Ontario Superior Court on Thursday in Whitby, Ont.

GM is also seeking $1.5 million in compensation from the CAW for its disruptions to operations in Oshawa, which is also home to its car and truck plants. The union is protesting the company's decision to shut the truck plant next year.
