SFPR should be rejected, wilderness group says

The Western Canada Wilderness Committee is urging people to write to the government asking it not to grant a certificate for the South Fraser Perimeter Road.

The proposed 40-kilometre, four-lane highway is to connect Deltaport to Highway 1 in Surrey.

Part of the provincial Gateway Program, the highway will accommodate an increase in truck traffic as a result of the expansion at the port. Carrying an estimated $1 billion cost, the new highway would cut through South Delta farmland and along the edge of Burns Bog.
