French Role in Genocide Denied

France dismissed as unacceptable on Wednesday a Rwandan report that accused 13 senior French politicians, including former President François Mitterrand and former Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, of involvement in the 1994 genocide that killed as many as 800,000 people.

Mr. Mitterrand, who was president at the time, and Mr. de Villepin, then a Foreign Ministry adviser, were among those accused of complicity in the “preparation and execution of the genocide.”

Rwanda has long accused France of training the militias that led the slaughter of the Tutsi minority.
