OTTAWA-Daniel Alfredsson says it is possible for the Senators’ high-octane first line to exist in harmony with coach Craig Hartsburg’s defence-first approach.
However, concerns are beginning to arise regarding the proper balance between defence and offence, the latter a specialty for Alfredsson and linemates Jason Spezza and Dany Heatley.
The trio, frequently torn apart last season and in the early parts of this season, reunited three games ago with good results for the struggling Sens.
The team needs something of a renaissance from the line if it is to rise out of last place in the Northeast Division.
“We all talked when we were put back together about how the coach wants us to play. He said: `I want you to score goals, but also to play good defence to set an example for the team,’ ” Alfredsson said.
