BANGKOK — U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is expressing concern about reports of military cooperation between North Korea and Myanmar.
At a news conference after arriving in the Thai capital, Clinton told reporters that the Obama administration is aware of growing concerns in Asia about North Korean military ties to Myanmar, which also is known as Burma and is run by a military regime.
She said such a relationship would be destabilizing and troubling.
Clinton was holding talks with senior Thai officials before flying to the resort city of Phuket on Wednesday to attend an international meeting on regional security. Myanmar and North Korea are expected to be major topics of discussion at the meeting.
